Moose Milers & Marathoners
Take 2nd Place at 2003
Mount Washington Road Race

New member David Herr led the Moose Milers & Marathoners to a 2nd place finish at the prestigious Mount Washington Road Race on June 21st in Gorham, New Hampshire. Herr covered the 7.6 miles (only 1 hill) in a Moose Milers & Marathoners record time of 1:10:52.

Mark Pitts, Evan Pilachowski, Rowland Brucken, and Brian Stevens rounded out the scoring members of the team. All 5 won lottery bypasses into next year's race.

Unfortunately injuries and the quirks of the lottery to get into the Mount Washington Road Road kept our Male Masters and Female Open Teams from winning bypasses into next year's race.

Officially, our Male Masters team finished in 7th place, but would have moved up to 3rd if Dan Knaul had gotten in through the lottery instead of through a club number from his local club (Gate City Striders) and if Len Hall had joined the team 12 hours earlier. (He joined the morning of the race.) Mark Pitts led the way for the masters in 1:13:40.

Our gals did not officially field a team in the race, but would have taken 3rd if a couple of them had made it through the lottery instead of getting club numbers from their local clubs. RaeLyn Crowell let the way, setting a Moose Milers & Marathoners team record of 1:30:21.
