Boston Marathon 2004

One of the hottest days ever in the history of the Boston Marathon greeted the runners for the traditional Noon start in Hopkinton, Mass. Many runners, including 1 out of every 4 Moose Milers succumbed to the heat and dropped out of the race. But due to the strength and (more important) depth of our teams, we managed to put 3 of 4 teams in the top 4 among New England teams and top 12 teams overall, and combined team totals have the Moose Milers in 3rd place among New England teams and 4th place overall!!!

Even more amazing, the Male Open finished 5th overall. And, if not for a registration snafu, our Female Masters would have done the same. (Unfortunately, 3 of our runners were not scored for the team.)

Brian Mulry and Greg Ward turned in the two most impressive performances of the day as they finished 58th and 98th overall net times of 2:40:59 and 2:46:02. In addition, 2 more men and our top 4 women all finished in the top 250 in their gender and 5 more men cracked the top 1000.
